The Community College
Vocational and Technical Education

 
   
At present, the College offers 15 types of specializations in the vocational and technical education programme (Community College) including:

(A) Trade courses such as Dressmaking, Clothing Production, Hairdressing and Beauty Culture.

(B) Technical Courses such as Computer Studies, Architectural Drafting, Ceramics, Social Worker, Pre-School (KG) Education and Graphic Design.

(C) Para-Medical courses such as Asst. Pharmacist, Lab. Technician, Nursing, Secretarial and Medical Records, Speech Therapy and Physiotherapy.

(D) Commercial courses such as Secretarial and Office Management.

    After two years of study, RWTC students graduate with a diploma in one of the above mentioned specializations.


The Academic Programme
Educational Science Faculty (ESF)


    The two-year programme of education in 1964 to provide the Palestinian schools with qualified teachers.
    The programme continued to fulfill its mission by graduating teachers carrying a diploma I education till 1992.
    Since then it has been up-graded to graduate students with B.A. Degrees, and it ht has attained the name of “Educational Science Faculty (Women)”. The upgraded programme has an equivalent twin: “Educational Science Faculty (Men) “ where both share one council and a unified faculty faculty though they are located on separate campuses.
    The up-grading aimed at increasing the employment opportunities of RWTC graduates especially because the rule stipulate that teachers are required to be holders of the first university degree. Graduates are trained to become specialized teachers in the following 5 subjects: Science, Math and computer, Arabic Language, Vocational Education, Lower Elementary Education and Physical Education.
    The college has a board of trustees of seven members working with UNRWA. All hold high qualification and have long experience in the field of education.
The college also has a council that council that constitutes of the Dean of ESF (Women) and her deputy, the Dean of ESF (Men) and his deputy, department heads and teachers’ representatives.


Aims Sought

  • To provide opportunities for university studies in the fields of teacher training.

  • To provide opportunities for community college studies in the fields of vocational and technical training.

  • To provide educational opportunities for developing the performance of teachers employed by UNRWA through in-service training.

  • To encourage and conduct research.

  • To develop scientific approaches, intellectual independence critical thinking scientific analysis personal initiation and group work.

  • To serve the Palestinian community in particular and the Arab community in general.

  • To foster and maintain the cultural identity of the Palestinian people.

  • To establish and promote educational cultural and scientific ties with local Arab and international organizations.

  • To partake in developing thinking and educational practices.
